P0FFLEY is the creator of the "Murs de Fer" game and the group it revolves around, World of Vigilantes. The before mentioned game is set in a city that has been designed as a prison for people with superhuman abilities. An interesting thing about MDF & WOV is the immense amount of community interaction, as users can customize their own fictional persona or OC. P0FFLEY was kind enough to accept an interview request from us allowing us to take a step in the life of a developer of his type.
Question 1: What inspired you/gave you the idea of making WOV?
P0FFLEY: Well, when I was 12 I wanted to make my own superhero. I was sick of the rules how I needed to pick a character. This discouraged me. At the time I had an obsession with superheroes.
As time went by a created Heroes of Robloxia which was a small group meant for my friends and me, as it died off I took a break.
As time went I had an idea to make it bigger and better. Creating WOV. Putting up ads left and right, making everything by myself, same with the administration. I went under two personas to get feedback, making OCs as owners.
A few weeks later something was missing.
The hero group had no set structure and never were any punishments for the OCs ingame So I gathered a few admins, such as Retro and Oden to help build MDF. The idea was it's a city that acted like a prison. With huge walls containing the area. Every person in the city would have something unique, an ability. Showing the fall of the heroes The map's theme I was going for was Oppression and Freedom Vs. Safety relating it to the Static zone. There is somewhat of a brief history
Question 2: What are some obstacles you have encountered through development?
P0FFLEY: My personal building skills. I'm a novice builder, despite the fact of some experience building. It seems like a chore for me, however, my admins and dev team are great helping me create this idea and build it up. Different from the past related groups, I finally had a team to help out. I still build however I no longer build everything. The idea of the game is was motivated me, the stories that could be created were limitless in my eyes.
Question 3: When did you start to play Roblox, when did you start to develop and when did you start working on WOV?
P0FFLEY: I started in 2009 and my one goal was to build, just build a game. It didn't matter what it was. As long if I was proud of it.
I started developing WOV sometime at the end of 2015, creating Arbis. But past games were built in 2013.
Question 4: Are there any people you looked up to in your early developing days?
P0FFLEY: Jaller, overall his games were sick in my eyes. They were expansive and the possibilities were endless! What really inspired me was how much freedom everyone had with there OCs! And yet it felt so structured!
Question 5: What advice would you give to people trying to make a game?
Get creative, it doesn't need to be the best building. Or the best lighting. However, if the idea is executed correctly. Everything falls in line. That's really it.
We would like to thank P0FFLEY for accepting this interview, we beg for you to give his group and game at least a quick visit.
